Question 1 of 5
1. Question
Read the following ‘case’ and choose an intention that you think effectively addresses the case and supports client evolution. Check all that apply.
Josie frequently finds herself in conflict situations. They happen with her husband, her teenage children, her siblings, and more recently with two of her colleagues and her boss. She’s worried about getting fired because her response to conflict is to blow up, get very loud and angry, and often, to stomp out of the room, slamming doors. She’s never physically violent, just loud, and overly emotional. Her mother handled conflict the same way. Josie wonders if she’s afraid of being wrong, possibly, but she knows for sure she needs an effective way of handling herself when confronted or challenged. Josie wants a promotion at work, to managing people and projects in the marketing department, so the time to address this is now.

Barbara is ready to let go of her anxiety. It’s cost her enormously over the years. She’s lost relationships because she was too needy. She’s lost jobs because she was too anxious to commit herself to projects and goals. She’s limited herself in countless ways, opting out of social activities and work opportunities because of her fear that her crippling anxiety would derail her from succeeding or enjoying herself. Barbara’s a little nervous about it all, but at the same time feels really ready to move on, even though she suspects anxiety has been one of her strategies for playing small and staying below the radar.

John has his own business, but is always late with his commitments and deliverables to his customers. He procrastinates until the pressure to produce builds up to force him to get going. Then he rushes through the work, making mistakes, and missing deadlines. He’s really good at what he does, so his customers put up with it, but he can’t grow his business or earn a good living if he’s constantly behind and under-delivering. He’s disorganized, a procrastinator and has this idea that stress helps him achieve. He knows it’s not true, but bad habits are hard to break.
