How Are Chakras Like Cars?

There are some interesting ideas about the role of chakras and the aura in spiritual practice and process. One of the ideas that’s often propagated is that balancing the chakras will resolve longstanding patterns.

I’m going to share a metaphor to help you think about this:

If your car’s steering is out of alignment, and your car veers left or right at high speeds, one way to solve the problem is to overcompensate with the steering wheel. That fixes the problem. Sort of.

But really address the issue, your car needs a trip to the auto mechanic to balance and align the wheels and resolve the steering. You can veer, or you can steer!

A chakra balancing is similar to overcompensating with your steering wheel. It’ll address your issues short-term, but it’s not like a good trip to the energy healing mechanic!

Multiple Chakras & the Aura Always Play a Role

Take procrastination. Sometimes people will think that their issue with procrastination is solely related to their third chakra. There’s a tendency to simplify the challenge into the one probable chakra that’s generating the problem.

Would that it were so simple!

If you’re a procrastinator, your third chakra — the seat of volition — is absolutely part of the problem! But there are other chakras that are contributing to the issue.

For example, if you’re not very grounded, getting things done is a challenge because you have to Be in your body to Do the things. So your first chakra may well play a role in the inability to complete tasks.

If you’re up in your head, playing out different scenarios for the outcomes that could result from unfinished chores or tasks, then your Thinker may well be overriding your Doer. Your sixth chakra is dominating your third chakra.

Perhaps you’re really good at task completion on behalf of others, but you’re constantly running behind on completing projects for yourself. This could mean you’ve got a caretaking patterning in place, and your 2nd chakra could drive your focus to others instead of to your own needs!

Beyond that, if you come from a long line of procrastinators…well, then you’ve got Programming in your aura that activates when you decide to Do, derailing your forward movement.

Do you see the big picture here? One chakra is rarely the problem. Focusing on one chakra is unlikely to solve the way you’re steering your life! And bypassing the aura to focus only on the chakras is a problem as well.

If you focus only on the chakras, you’re addressing only those energies that are active in your field. The aura is your storage closet for those inactive energies that have yet to mobilize. There’s a lot of held energy in the aura!

How Can You Get in the Know?

There’s a series of videos on my YouTube channel that may be just the ticket for you!

Pick a problem that you’d like to resolve, and decide which chakra you think is ‘running the show’. Using the example of procrastination, the logical choice is the third chakra dominating your experience, underfunctioning instead of flowing toward task completion.

Watch the third chakra video. But consider the other chakras in your field and how they might be implicated in the pattern you’re wanting to resolve.
