Cease and Desist with the Tendency to Resist – Clearing 6 Definitions of Resistance

What we resist stalks us.  You ever noticed that?  Who among us meets every challenge, every opportunity, ever learning edge without resistance?  Exactly!  No one.

That’s why a colleague of mine calls opportunities to grow, change and evolve AFGO’s.  Another Freakin’ Growth Opportunity.  And yes, you can modify the ‘F’ word to suit your needs.  I’ll just cover my delicate ears.

What is the definition of resistance?

  1. Opposition – opposition to somebody or something.
  2. Refusal to give in.
  3. Ability to withstand damaging effect.
  4. Ability to say no to temptation.
  5. An ELECTRICITY related definition
  6. An ELECTRICITY related definition
  7. Force opposing another force.
  8. Repression of thoughts.

Now, watch this everyone.  The next two posts are going to push back (get it?) on resistance and its exotic, erotic, quixotic, neurotic come hither, stay put energies.

I’ll use all 6 of the definitions above and offer 6 ways to overcome resistance.  If you were to then cross-apply the 6 definitions and 6 ways to clear with 6 degrees of separation – we might be connected to everyone, more or less through one degree or another, without resistance.  Wonder if that would be a formula for collaboration?

Anyway, def 1: Opposition to somebody or something.  What might that look like?

Yeah, you get the drill.

How to clear it:

  • Take a breath and find your body
  • Say ‘hello’ to the person or people silently who you oppose.  Politicians. Parents or Authority Figures. Those who are different.  The ones who make me mad.  Sad.  Bad.
  • Imagine a giant vortex spinning up from each of THEM and returning to YOU.  Your energy.  Reintegrated.  Invigorated.
  • Imagine a giant vortex spinning up from YOU and returning to THEM.  Their energy.  Released.  Expansion.  Relief.
  • Run a beautiful stream of golden energy down through your crown chakra and out your feet chakras into the Earth.  Mmmmmmm….niiiice.

Definition 2: Refusal to give in.

Example:

Honey, Can you let this go?

‘Honey.  Will you let this go?  I didn’t mean to say it that way.’

‘No.’

‘Honey, please.  It’s been three days now, and I’ve got a crick in my neck from watching TV in the doghouse.’

‘No.’

Honey, please?’

‘No.’

How to clear:

  • Take a breath and find your body
  • Say ‘hello’ to the one with whom you can’t let go.
  • Imagine the resistance being over and done with.  Smile.
  • Gather all of the resistance that is over and done with and release it through your feet chakras into the Earth.
  • Smile again.
  • Imagine the resistance being over and done with.  Smile.
  • Gather all of the resistance that is over and done with and release it through your feet chakras into the Earth.
  • Repeat a third time.
  • Run a beautiful stream of golden energy down through your crown chakra and out your feet chakras into the Earth.  Mmmmmmm….sort of peaceful, less tense, less rigid.
  • Note:  this may take more than one set of three for full release.  Repeat as needed and set your focus on the smile and the concept of letting ‘it’ go, being neutral.

Def 3:  Ability to Withstand Damaging Effect

I know what you’re thinking.  How in heaven’s name is CK gonna bail herself out of this one?  I hear ya.  This one took some doing.  So here we go:

Have you ever been stuck in a negative pattern for a long period of time?  You knew you were stuck, you could see the consequences of being stuck,  and the opportunities you were bypassing by staying where you were?

Yet you survived.

You have some collateral damage, but you’re not done and over.  You just process some regrets and losses when you eventually crawl out of the morass.

That’s my version of Ability to Withstand Damaging Effect.  You made it.  Scars, yes.  Regrets, maybe.  Wounds, still healing.  Withstood and Survived?  Uh-huh.

How to clear the tendency to stay stuck and minimize collateral damages:

  • Take a breath and find your body
  • Say ‘hello’ to the part of yourself that is managing the effects of resistance, including collateral damage.
  • Say ‘hello’ to the part of yourself that would prefer to surrender the resistance and thrive.
  • Give the little Resister a kiss in exchange for handing over the giant ball of resistance to your Thriver.
  • The Resister meets the Thriver, and learns to integrate its needs into the Thriver’s more adult and evolved point of view.
  • Send the ball of Resistance down your legs and our your feet in to the Earth.
  • Repeat as necessary.
  • Run a beautiful stream of golden energy down through your crown chakra and out your feet chakras into the Earth.  Mmmmmmm….congealing and integrating.

Next post we’ll clear out the rest of the Resistance.  Then all we’ll have is the electrical definitions.  Sounds kind of green to me – we won’t be wasting nearly as much energy as we were last week!

Keep your energy flowing!
